Chandigarh, Feb. 16 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court has delivered a significant blow to the union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare by staying the proceedings against Kshema General Insurance Company Limited in an alleged delay in clearing the insurance settlements of farmers due to crop loss in key states.

The company was facing a de-empanelment and blacklisting notice over alleged operational lapses in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

The court's interim relief effectively halts the central government's action until the next hearing scheduled for July 8.
