Chandigarh, Nov. 30 -- In a significant development, the Punjab and Haryana High Court raised questions over the arrest of Kanchanpreet Kaur, daughter of former Akali candidate Principal Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, directing that her custody be handed over to the duty judge. The court also instructed that she must not be presented for remand until her legal counsels arrive.

The High Court criticised the police action, asking why a person who had voluntarily joined the investigation was taken into custody. The court emphasised transparency in both the probe and the arrest procedure.
