Kolkata, May 9 -- A high alert has been sounded in and around the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (Kolkata airport), where security arrangements have been significantly tightened with a five-layer round-the-clock vigilance following escalating India-Pakistan tensions,official sources said on Friday.

Similarly, the security system in the Kolkata Dock area and Haldia Dock area of Kolkata Port was also increased after the port chairman, R. Ramen, had a meeting with the Union Home Ministry officials in which all major ports of the country participated on Friday, sources added.
