Washington, March 19 -- US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon will seek additional funding from Congress to support operations in Iran, indicating a figure of about $200 billion, which he said is possible "could move".
The potential request, first reported by The Washington Post, would come on top of the Pentagon's already gargantuan $1trillion annual defence budget. A massive supplemental package of this size is expected to meet strong resistance in Capitol Hill, where the heavy unpopularity of the war among both Democrats and Republicans has made any passage of additional defence bills difficult.
