Chennai, Dec. 1 -- As heavy pounded Chennai and neighbouring districts, the Met office today eveningupgraded the Orange alert into Red Alert for the day, forecasting extreme heavy falls in excess of 20 cms.
With the City being battered by non-stop rains since this morning and the Cyclonic Storm, which hasalready wekened into a Deep Depression and unlikely weaken further for the time being, the Met officehas issued a Red Alert for Chennai and Tiruvallur districts.
