Shimla, Feb. 17 -- The Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha witnessed sharp exchanges between treasury and Opposition benches on the second day of debate over the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG), prompting the Speaker to intervene repeatedly and expunge certain unparliamentary remarks from the proceedings.
The debate, initiated under Rule 102, continued on Tuesday with Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri accusing the previous BJP government of leaving behind liabilities of Rs 15,000 crore despite having spent nearly Rs 72,000 crore received under RDG over the years. He further alleged that the former regime had borrowed Rs 28,000 crore, compelling the present government to repay around Rs 26,000 crore.
