Mumbai, Dec. 29 -- The Bombay High court on Monday directed a local trial court to expedite the proceedings against a Yemeni national facing charges in a narcotic case while observing that pending cases against him were causing an unnecessary burden on the government exchequer.
The Division bench of Justices Ajey Gadkari and R.R. Bhonsale in its order noted that the Yemeni national cannot be deported to his country of origin since complaints are pending against him for final adjudication. Hence, he has to be detained in India.
