Hazaribagh, March 20 -- As the vernal equinox approaches, a megalith site in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district is drawing attention for its alignment with key solar events, reflecting what experts describe as ancient knowledge of astronomy.

The equinox, when day and night are nearly equal, will occur on March 21, with sunrise expected around 5:51 am. At Pankri Barwadih in Barkagaon, the phenomenon can be observed through a specific alignment of stones at the site.

According to researcher and INTACH life member Shubhashish Das, the megaliths at the site are positioned in a way that allows observation of four major solar events during the year, including the equinoxes in March and September and the solstices in June and December.
