New Delhi, Aug. 8 -- Hansal Mehta's much-anticipated series 'Gandhi' will have its world premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), making it the first Indian series ever to be featured in the festival's prestigious Primetime slate.

Based on historian Ramachandra Guha's acclaimed books Gandhi Before India and Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World, this multi-season epic presents an intimate, humanized portrayal of Gandhi.

Pratik Gandhi, in a leading role, embodies Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, while Bhamini Oza portrays Kasturba Gandhi. The ensemble also includes Tom Felton among other notable international actors.
