Berlin, March 9 -- Hamburg Airport has said it is cancelling all incoming and outgoing flights on Sunday due to an unannounced strike organised by the Verdi trade union.

"Without any notice, the union Verdi has called on the services at Hamburg Airport to go on strike immediately, Sunday (March 9). For this reason, the airport is closed, and there will be no departures or arrivals all day," the airport said on X.

On Friday, the DPA agency reported that the ADV airport association expects more than 3,400 flights to be cancelled on Monday due to a planned strike by employees at 11 airports in Germany.
