New Delhi, Sept. 4 -- From life-saving cancer drugs and rare disease medicines to spectacles, diabetic foods, gyms, and health insurance, the GST Council has rolled out a wide-ranging package of tax rationalisation measures aimed at making healthcare more affordable and supporting allied sectors such as nutrition, fitness, and medical devices.

These reforms are designed to reduce treatment costs, promote preventive care, ease financial burdens on patients and families, and encourage wider insurance coverage.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda, speaking on social media platform X, said these cuts would enhance ease of living, benefit various industries, and provide much-needed relief across the healthcare ecosystem and beyond.
