Shillong, Jan. 14 -- The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) has issued an urgent SOS appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking immediate Central intervention to address the illegal immigration of Bangladeshi nationals, and tribal crisis unfolding in the Garo Hills region of Meghalaya, with far-reaching implications for the entire North-Eastern region.
The appeal follows the brutal killing of ACHIK member Dilseng M. Sangma at Goalgoan under the Rajabala assembly constituency in West Garo Hills district. Four people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Sangma, an indigenous tribal youth in that region.
