Palampur, March 2 -- The state-level historic Holi fair in Himachal Pradesh began here on Saturday with a grand procession, filling the town with vibrant colours and festive fervour.

The traditional Holi celebrations began with a spectacular 'Shobha Yatra' flagged off by Palampur MLA Ashish Butail. Amid the rhythmic beats of drums, melodious folk instruments and colourful tableaux, the procession passed through the town's main routes before culminating at Gandhi Ground.

Various social and cultural organisations, Mahila Mandals, Yuvak Mandals, self-help groups and schoolchildren participated enthusiastically in the procession.
