New Delhi, Feb. 5 -- The Government is promoting seaweed cultivation, along with marine fish farming, as a key component for developing the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as a hub for Blue Economy, Minister of State for Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, said on Thursday. The Minister said in Rajya Sabha that the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research's (CSIR) -Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI) have undertaken the project 'Pre-feasibility studies and establishment of pilot-scale farming of commercial seaweeds in Andaman coast'.
