Mumbai, Feb. 18 -- The Maharashtra government has officially withdrawn the 5 per cent reservation that had been announced in 2014 for socially and educationally backward sections of the Muslim community in government and semi-government employment as well as educational admissions.

The decision was formalised through a Government Resolution issued late on Tuesday (February 17) by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department.

The new resolution cancels all earlier government orders, circulars and administrative decisions connected to the quota that had been introduced under the Special Backward Category-A (SBC-A).
