New Delhi, Feb. 18 -- Global leaders on Wednesday underscored the need for human-centred governance frameworks as artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly embedded in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), during a high-level session at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

The session, titled "Governing Safe and Responsible AI within Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)," examined how AI systems can be integrated into public platforms in a manner that is safe, accountable and inclusive.

With DPI systems now underpinning service delivery in health, education, social protection and public administration, speakers said AI-enabled decision-making at scale must be anchored in transparency, oversight and rights-based safeguards.
