Chennai, Aug. 23 -- A woman sanitary worker of Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC)died of electrocution while she was on her way for duty at Kannagi Nagar in the citythis morning.
The worker, R.Varalaskhami, stepped on a snapped live wire submerged in stagnatedwaters due to heavy overnight rains, which she could not notice, suffered a severeshock and died on the spot.
The lone breadwinner of her family, she has a son and a daughter.
GCC Mayor Ms R Priya, Ministers, leaders of various political parties, including VCKLeader and Lok Sabha MP Thol Thirumavalavn, BJP Leader Tamilisai Soundararajan,Naam Tamizhar Katchi Seeman, visited her residence and paid homage to her bodyand consoled the family members.
