Nagpur, Jan. 22 -- Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar praised Varun Chakravarthy's composure and body language following India's win over New Zealand in the first T20I in Nagpur, saying the mystery spinner's growing confidence was a key positive for the hosts.

Speaking on Jio Star, Gavaskar acknowledged that Varun looked "a little rusty" but stressed that it was understandable. "He picked up two wickets, and the economy rate, when the batters are going hell-bent for leather, was pretty decent as well," Gavaskar said. "The important thing is that his body language was good."Gavaskar pointed out that, unlike earlier phases of his career, Varun did not appear affected after being hit for a few boundaries.
