Hazaribagh, March 3 -- Police have arrested Shakil Ansari, a resident of Jarba under Charhi police station limits, on charges of allegedly duping people of more than Rs 5 crore in the name of vehicle transactions and land deals. He has been sent to judicial custody.
According to police, over 50 people are suspected to have been cheated so far. The total fraud amount is estimated at more than Rs 5 crore. Several cases, including cheating, cheque bounce and other criminal offences, have been registered against him.
Police said non-bailable warrants had been issued against the accused by courts in Bokaro, Ranchi, Dumka, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Chatra and Koderma districts of Jharkhand. He had been absconding for a long time and frequently chang...
