Lucknow, Aug. 13 -- Fourteen women entrepreneurs from rural Uttar Pradesh, popularly called "Lakhpati Didis" for their success in earning a sustainable income through self-help groups, today set off for New Delhi to attend the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort.



UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya waved off the group from his camp office at 7, Kalidas Marg in Lucknow, with the women travelling to the national capital by bus. Each participant is accompanied by her husband or a support companion, along with two special representatives from the mission.

Their presence at the national event highlights a significant step forward for women's empowerment under the State Rural Livelihood Mission.
