Sukma, Jan. 30 -- Four Maoist cadres, carrying a combined bounty of Rs 8 lakh, surrendered before security forces in Sukma district on Friday taking advantage of the government's 'Poona Margem' initiative, which promises financial support and rehabilitation after surrendering.
Two of the surrendered cadres were women. They laid down automatic weapons and ammunition.
This surrender is being seen as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing campaign against Left wing extremism in southern Chhattisgarh, and the success of the rehabilitation programme of the Chhattisgarh government - Poona Margem.
