Shahjahanpur, Feb. 15 -- The local police arrested four suspects for allegedly creating fake GST firms and evading taxes amounting to nearly Rs 2 crore.
Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi said on Sunday that the accused were involved in operating bogus GST firms and had used forged documents to clear 200 to 250 scrap-loaded vehicles.
Police recovered a car, forged documents, seven mobile phones, ten consignment note and vehicle record registers.
An FIR for GST evasion was registered at Roza police station in November, following which a joint police team was formed to apprehend the accused. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a car near the Atsaliya bridge and arrested four suspects.
