Kabul, Oct. 12 -- Former US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has warned that Pakistan's recent airstrikes on Kabul could serve as the trigger to igniting the sparks of a potential regional conflict in the near future, deeming Islamabad's operation as a "failure" and urging immediate diplomatic intervention to prevent further escalation.

"Pakistan's attack against the capital of Afghanistan appears to have been a failure," Khalilzad wrote on X on Saturday.
