Kochi, March 21 -- Former employees of United News of India (UNI), one of the country's oldest news agencies, today strongly condemned the sealing of its New Delhi office and alleged manhandling of journalists by police during the eviction process.
In a strongly worded statement, former employees said the forced eviction of staff, coupled with alleged misconduct by Delhi Police personnel, including the manhandling of journalists-among them women-was unacceptable in a democratic society. The forum described the incident as a direct attack on press freedom.
Emphasising UNI's legacy as one of India's most respected news institutions, they noted that the agency has consistently upheld the principles of independent and credible journalism.
