Shimla, Feb. 11 -- Former Himachal Pradesh Speaker and ex-Education Minister Radha Raman Shastri on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the deteriorating financial condition of the hill state, asserting that withdrawal of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) by the Centre would render the hill state politically and economically non-viable.
In a press statement issued here, the former leader said the financial statement recently presented by the state government reflects a grave situation, which is not unique to Himachal Pradesh but common to almost all mountainous states due to their limited revenue base and difficult geographical conditions.
