Parwinder SandhuNew Delhi, March 5 -- A day after the Iranian warship IRIS Dena, carrying more than 100 sailors, was struck in international waters in the Indian Ocean by a US submarine on Wednesday, concerns are mounting that the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict is edging closer to the region.
After completing its participation in the International Fleet Review 2026 at Visakhapatnam, the Iranian naval frigate IRIS Dena had begun its return journey when it reportedly came under attack in the Indian Ocean and later went down off Sri Lanka's southern coast. According to the reports, 87 Iranian sailors were killed in the torpedo attack while 32 were rescued by the Sri Lankan Navy.
