New Delhi, March 19 -- Delhi Capitals have appointed former Ireland allrounder John Mooney as their fielding coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League(IPL) season, making him the first Irish representative in an IPL coaching setup.
Mooney replaces Gnaneswara Rao and Anton Roux, who handled fielding duties for the side last season. He will be part of a support staff headed by head coach Hemang Badani, alongside bowling coach Munaf Patel, assistant coach Ian Belland director of cricket Venugopal Rao.
The former Ireland all-rounder arrives with considerable coaching experience. He served as fielding coach of Afghanistan between 2018 and 2019, a period that included the side's historic Test debut in India.
