Deoria, Jan. 16 -- Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who was compulsorily retired and is currently lodged in Deoria district jail, allegedly received a death threat on Friday.

According to sources, Thakur found a computer-typed threatening letter hidden under a stone outside his barrack.

Thakur immediately informed the jail administration about the incident and handed over the letter and the stone to the authorities. Following this, the jail superintendent informed the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP), and an investigation has been initiated.
