Imphal, Feb. 6 -- Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has been appointed as the President of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee. His appointment comes at a time when the party is seeking to consolidate its structure and intensify its political engagement in the state ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

AICC General Secretary K Venugopal issued a statement on Thursday announcing the decision.

According to the statement, the appointments were made by the Congress President as part of efforts to revitalise the organisation at a crucial political juncture.
