Dhaka, April 7 -- Former Bangladesh speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was sent to jail on Tuesday, after being charged by a Dhaka court in an attempted murder case linked to the July uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jewel Rana passed the order rejecting a two-day remand prayer for her submitted by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said a court staffer.
Earlier in the morning, she was detained from a residence in the Dhanmondi area of the capital.
Chaudhury was produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in connection with a case filed regarding an attempted murder and violence during the July 2024 movement.
