Flood likely in Mahanadi delta region: Naveen asks Collectors to keep 24 hour vigil on situation
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 13 -- Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today asked the District Collectors to keep a 24 hour vigil on the possible flood situation in the river Mahanadi following heavy rain in the upper catchment area.
Reviewing the situation through video conference , Mr.Patnaik said there is possibility of flood in Mahanadi as 11 lakh cusecs of water will flow in to Mahanadi on August 15 morning.
He said it may cause flood in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri Nayagarh, Khorda and Kendrapara districts.
Direction was issued to keep a vigil on the river embankments in these districts and intensify patrolling.
Possibility of flood is also likely in the districts of Bolangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Subarnapur and Kandhamal following heavy rain.
