Vadodara, Jan. 11 -- India won the toss and elected to field in the opening match of the series against New Zealand, who handed a debut to Kristian Clarke, opting to bowl first citing the challenge of dew later in the evening at the Kotambi Stadium here.
India skipper Shubman Gill said the team wanted to assess different combinations, especially bowling under dew conditions.
He noted that batting could get easier later in the night and added that the team environment was positive, with players showing good form after a busy schedule of white-ball matches.
