Chennai, Feb. 17 -- India's first indigeous Cadet Training Ship for the Indian Navy waslaunched here on Tuesday.

A defence release said the first of three indigenous Cadet Training Ships, being built byM/s L and T Shipyard for the Indian Navy, was launched today in the presence of GeneralAnil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, at L and T, Kattupalli, Chennai.

The ceremony was also attended by Vice Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, Controller WarshipProduction and Acquisition, Rear Admiral Upal Kundu, Flag Officer Commanding TamilNadu and Puducherry Naval Area, Arun Ramchandani, Head M/s L&T PES, and othersenior officers from the Indian Navy.

The ship was launched by Ms Anupama, President DWWA, in keeping with maritimetraditions.
