Ranchi, Jan. 24 -- A fire broke out at the Bariatu Firing Range here but was brought under control in a coordinated operation by Army and civil fire services, with no loss of life or property reported.
According to sources in Defence, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon at around 1330 hours and is suspected to have originated from a garbage dump in the nearby civil area. Sentries deployed at the range noticed the fire and immediately attempted to contain it. However, due to dry bushes and strong winds, the flames spread rapidly across the range area.
