New Delhi, March 26 -- The deadline for withdrawal of nominations for the Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala and Puducherry, along with bye-elections in Goa, Karnataka, Nagaland and Tripura, ended at 3 PM on Thursday, finalising the list of candidates set to enter the electoral fray.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) said scrutiny of nominations has been completed, leaving over 2,200 candidates in contention for the upcoming polls. The election schedule was announced on March 15, with the first phase of voting scheduled for April 9, 2026.
