Kuala Lumpur, Oct. 26 -- FIFA and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) signed a renewed five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the 47th ASEAN Summit here today to further strengthen cooperation in promoting football development, social progress and healthy lifestyles across Southeast Asia.

The MoU was signed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and ASEAN Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn, in the presence of ASEAN Chair and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim. It follows the initial agreement signed in November 2019, which led to the implementation of multiple initiatives, including the FIFA Football for Schools programme, joint health awareness campaigns and regional educational workshops.
