Aizawl, April 3 -- Even as concerns mount over the alleged illegal export of fertilisers from Mizoram to Myanmar, a field investigation has revealed that subsidised urea meant for farmers is being sold locally at sharply inflated prices, prompting authorities to initiate action.

The Mizoram State Agriculture, Horticulture and Marketing Cooperative Federation (MAHFED) Ltd., in an official statement, said its Managing Director carried out a detailed inspection in Sihphir village near Aizawl following credible inputs about irregularities in distribution. The exercise included verification of supply channels and interactions with farmers and end-users.
