Chandigarh, Feb. 18 -- Tensions escalated across Punjab as members of the Bharatiya Kisan union (Ekta Ugrahan) launched a massive march toward Bathinda, leading to significant disruptions and clashes with law enforcement.
The farmers were intercepted by police while attempting to reach the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office to hold a demonstration. Following the blockade near Rampuraphul, the protesters sat on the Bathinda-Chandigarh national highway, effectively halting traffic and forcing authorities to divert vehicles through rural link roads.
