Nasik, Jan. 25 -- Thousands of farmers from Maharashtra have set off on foot for Mumbai.
According to reports, their number is estimated to be around fifteen thousand. Most of them are from the tribal belt of Nashik district.
These farmers started their 'long march' last Monday. The purpose of this march is to bring the problems of farmers and other people to the attention of the government.
This large-scale march by farmers demanding their rights is likely to increase the tension for the Devendra Fadnavis government. Recently, a sharp decline in onion prices has been recorded in Maharashtra. The farmers want the government to provide adequate compensation for these losses.
