Imphal, Feb. 28 -- Farmers' organisations of Manipur urged Y Khemchand, Manipur Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader Keisham Meghachandra to help in repealing anti farmers laws passed by the union government.
Addressing the media here today, Sarat Salam, Haobijam Ibobi Singh, N. Singhjit and Kshetrimayum Santa representing various farmers bodies said the union government has been undermining the federal structure and weakening the rights of the States. It expressed concern that the proposed US trade deal and the reduction of import tariffs on agricultural commodities would severely harm farmers.
