Lucknow, Oct. 13 -- A fake firm, registered using forged documents, has been found to have conducted a bogus business worth Rs 11.73 crore on paper and fraudulently claimed a GST refund of Rs 2.11 crore. Upon investigation, the firm was found to be non-existent. Based on the inquiry report, Assistant Commissioner of the State Tax Department, Sanjay Singh, has filed a case against the firm owner at the Sarojininagar police station today.

According to Assistant Commissioner Sanjay Singh, who is posted in Zone-14 of the State Tax Department, the fraud came to light after a suspicious GST refund application was received.
