Kolkata, Oct. 15 -- Kolkata Police have arrested 16 women and a man accused of operating a fake dating app to cheat people in the name of a popular brand, official sources said today.
The fake dating app, which was being operated in the city's posh locality of Minto Park in South Kolkata, allegedly cheated many people, who complained to the police regarding clandestine activity in the heart of the city.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) wing of Kolkata Police, after receiving several complaints regarding cheating by the dating app, laid a trap and finally cracked down on the clandestine business by arresting the kingpin and 16 women during a raid yesterday, sources said.
