Kolkata, May 1 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress candidate from Bhabanipur, tonight alleged that "reports of tampering with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs)" prompted her to guard the strong room.

Banerjee stoppped outside the Sekhawat Memorial School in Kolkata, where the strong room containing EVMs are kept, at around midnight.

"I came here because I got reports of EVM machines being tampered inside, at the Netaji Indoor Stadium and other places by unauthorised outsiders. This is very disconcerting. They were tampering with the postal ballots. We will not allow this. I was here for around four hours and have left a party representative inside," Banerjee charged.
