Bengaluru, March 9 -- Karnataka Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Monday said that governments taking loans is a normal practice and part of the functioning of public finance, responding to concerns about the financial strain caused by rising debt.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Jarkiholi said every government, including the central government, borrows funds to run its administration and implement development programmes.

"You should know that every government, including the central government, takes loans to function. that's the system. Every year we repay some loans and then take new loans," he said.
