Brussels/Dhaka, Jan. 8 -- The EU will be deploying over 200 observers to monitor the fairness of the upcoming national parliamentary polls in Bangladesh on Feb 12, said Ivars Ijabs, the Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission (EU EOM).
Ijabs' remarks came after his meeting with the country's Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal at the Election Commission headquarters in Dhaka today, after which he spoke to the local media and affirmed that Brussels would be observing the elections from a neutral, non-partisan process.
