Kolkata, Feb. 17 -- Kasturi Goswami, daughter of late RSP leader and former Left Front minister Kshiti Goswami, formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday, marking a significant political shift in a family long associated with the Left and the Trinamool Congress.

Kasturi took the BJP flag in the presence of state party president Shamik Bhattacharya, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Suvendu Adhikari and party state secretary Locket Chatterjee.

Kshiti Goswami was one of the most prominent leaders of the Revolutionary Socialist Party during the Left Front regime.

He was a three-time MLA from the Dhakuria Assembly constituency and served as West Bengal's PWD minister for a decade in two terms.
