Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 30 -- New initiatives are being rolled out to ensure legal assistance and justice for victims of human-wildlife conflict, Supreme Court judge and executive chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) Justice Surya Kant said here today.

He was inaugurating a two-day regional conference on "Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence: A Legal and Policy Perspective", jointly organised by NALSA and the Kerala Legal Services Authority (KeLSA) at the Kerala Assembly complex.

Justice Surya Kant said the country's rapid development has resulted in shrinking forests and expanding cities, intensifying human-wildlife conflicts.
