Badaun, Oct. 23 -- An encounter broke out between police and cattle smugglers today near the ITI College on Kunwargaon Road in Badaun district.
During the exchange of fire, a police head constable was injured, while three smugglers, a father and his two sons, sustained bullet wounds and were later arrested.
According to reports, police had received a tip-off last night about illegal cattle slaughter taking place in the area. Acting on the information, police surrounded the suspects and ordered them to surrender in the wee hours today.
However, instead of surrendering, the smugglers opened fire on the police team. In the ensuing gunfight, Head Constable Krishna Kumar was shot and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
