Kolkata, Jan. 15 -- Eminent Rabindra Sangeet singer Arghya Sen died at his city home on Wednesday following old age ailments, sources at his residence confirmed.

Arghya Sen, 90, a bachelor, was not keeping well for some time, one of his disciples, Indrani Sen said.

Regarded as one of the last representatives of the golden generation of Rabindra Sangeet singers in West Bengal, Sen would be remembered for his stress on retaining the purity and essence of Tagore songs.

Born in Faridpur (now in Bangladesh) on November 11,1935, Sen learnt Tagore songs in Kolkata from legends like Ashoktaru Bandopadhyay and Debabrata Biswas, both of whom were particularly fond of him.
