Bahraich, March 22 -- An 80-year-old woman was killed after being attacked by a tusker elephant near Bhawanipur village in the Katarniaghat forest range located in Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday afternoon, triggering panic among residents.

The victim, identified as Kuwariya, wife of Itwari, had gone to graze her goats near a forest-side pasture around 11:00 am. At around noon, a tusker elephant reportedly emerged from the forest and chased her. Despite her cries for help, the elephant caught her before nearby villagers could intervene and trampled her to death.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman sustained severe injuries to her face and chest. It is likely that the elephant first attacked her with its tusks and then crushed her under its feet...
